Game Modes Explained

Every dive uses the same seven-round rhythm, but the source of the prompts and the way you return to them depends on the mode.

Three ways to play

01 / CURRENT

Daily Dive

The homepage loads the latest saved daily puzzle with its original date, number, prompts, and accepted answers.

02 / REPLAY

Daily Archive

Select an earlier date below the game and replay that saved daily dive without a daily limit.

03 / INFINITE

Unlimited

New Game chooses one of 10,000 prepared seven-prompt combinations and adds its ID to the URL.

All three modes use 25 seconds per prompt, the same answer tiers, the same dive animation, and the same final results format.

How unlimited game IDs work

An unlimited URL looks like ?gameId=3434. The number selects a prepared game, so anyone opening the same URL receives the same seven categories in the same order.

Selecting New Game chooses another ID and updates the address bar. Returning to the plain homepage loads the current Daily Dive directly.

Game IDs make challenges repeatable. Save the URL if you want to retry the exact prompts or compare results with another player.

Answer matching

Each prompt has a prepared accepted-answer list. The game normalizes capitalization, spacing, and punctuation before checking an answer. It can also recognize stored aliases and a limited set of clear spelling variations.

The matching system avoids guessing short or ambiguous typos. If an answer is not recognized, the round stays open while time remains, allowing another submission.

Why a plausible answer may not work

A real-world category can change, while the saved game data represents a specific editorial snapshot. An answer can also be too broad, ambiguous, outside the prompt’s stated boundary, or absent from that snapshot. Use the feedback button on the homepage when an answer should clearly be included.

Score, rarity, and depth

Accepted answers receive 10, 15, 30, 60, 85, or 100 points. Every point equals 10 metres of depth, so a 100-point One in a Krillion answer moves the dive 1,000 metres.

Your final score is the sum of all seven rounds. The deepest possible complete dive is 7,000 metres.

Sharing and replaying

The results screen can copy a compact result and game link. A shared daily link opens the homepage’s current daily game unless it includes a saved date; an unlimited link keeps its game ID.

No login is needed. Results are not attached to a public profile or global leaderboard.
